The Insurance Division consists of the Market Registration Bureau, Company Regulation Bureau, Senior Health Insurance Information Program, Insurance Consumer Advocate, Securities and Regulated Industries Bureau and the Insurance Fraud Bureau.
Iowa Insurance Commissioner
On January 1, 2005, Susan E. Voss became the Iowa Insurance Commissioner. In this position, Ms. Voss is responsible for supervising legislation, administrative and budget issues. A graduate of Simpson College and Gonzaga University School of Law, Ms. Voss held other various positions with in Iowa state government before becoming the Insurance Commissioner. Her previous positions include Assistant Attorney General for the Department of Transportation, Legal Counsel to the State Ombudsman and Counsel to the Iowa Legislature in the area of taxation and economic development. Ms. Voss joined the Iowa Insurance Division in 1993. She currently sits on several committees at the National Association of Insurance Commissioners.
Iowa Annuity Resources
In 2008, Iowa Insurance Commissioner Susan Voss that the Iowa Insurance Division would launch a project to increase the amount and quality of disclosure information related to fixed annuity contracts purchased by Iowa consumers from insurance companies doing business within the state. The American Council of Life Insurers agreed to participate in the joint venture.
