Maryland Insurance Commissioner
Prior to her January 2010 appointment as Acting Commissioner of the Maryland Insurance Administration, Elizabeth "Beth" Sammis was the Deputy Commissioner under Ralph S. Tyler. Ms. Sammis has also held the position of Vice President for Government Affairs, Mid-Atlantic Region for United Heathcare. She has also served as the Deputy Director of the Health Care Access and Cost Commission and as a Legislative Analyst. Ms. Sammis graduated from the University of California, Berkeley and holds an M.A and Ph.D in sociology from the University of California, Los Angeles. She currently resides with her family in Severna Park.
