Virginia Insurance Commissioner

Commissioner Alfred W. Gross is the current Commissioner of the Virginia Bureau of Insurance. After having served as acting commissioner from late 1989 to mid 1996 he was finally appointed Commissioner of Insurance effective Aug. 1, 1996. In addition to is role as commissioner, Gross also serves as Deputy Receiver for the Virginia State Corporation Commission on several receiverships. Prior to his career, Gross attended Loyola University where he received a bachelor of arts degree, Magna Cum Laude. On top of that he also received an M.A. and Ph.D. in Language and Literature from the University of Kansas; and a M.B.A. with a concentration in Finance and Accounting from the University of Richmond.
