The Wisconsin Office of the Commissioner of Insurance is located at 125 South Webster Street, Madison, WI 53703. The office was established in 1871 by the state legislature. The mission of the Office of the Commissioner of Insurance is to make sure that insurance companies and agencies operating within the state do so in a responsible way that meets the needs of Wisconsin residents.
Wisconsin Insurance Commissioner
Governor Scott Walker appointed Ted Nickel as Commissioner of Insurance on January 14, 2011. Previously, Mr. Nickel worked as Director of Governmental and Regulatory Affairs at Church Mutual Insurance Company in Merrill. He has also served as Chair of the board of directors of the Wisconsin Insurance Alliance and on the board of the Wisconsin Insurance Security Fund. Mr. Nickel holds a B.S. in Business Administration with a concentration in Finance from Valparaiso University.

All policies must meet the requirements as established by the laws enacted by the state legislature.
